Griffen raps with Prince?

March 7, 2008 at 10:41 pm (Artists, Bionik, Griffen) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Chicago-bred, Los Angeles-based rapper Griffen recently released a mixtape unlike any other mixtape currently on the market. 10 songs all over classic Prince tracks reverse engineered and reproduced by Bionik. Its really something that cannot be explained, you just get it when you hear it. A timeless album that reintroduces the world to a couple of lost Prince grooves as well as The Next kid in the rap game… Griffen. The album, in addition to exclusive orchestration by His Royal Badness, features guests Aceyalone & Black Silver on the songs “And…?” and “Sexi MF” respectively. Hear it for yourself. Download it for FREE here.

Bionik produces Aceyalone’s entire new release…

March 7, 2008 at 10:16 pm (Artists, Bionik) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

In addition to this summer’s upcoming Black Ice release and last year’s Supernovacaine   album, Key Wins Productions artist Bionik found the time to produce all 15 songs (and sing on 5) on Aceyalone‘s latest offering, Lightning Strikes [project blowed/decon media]. What was born here was basically a hip-hop album performed over reggae inspired riddums. The result is a bold bit of work that showcases the artistic maturity of one of LA’s most coveted underground legends. Also featured in a limited capacity is Project Blowed‘s dancehall frontman, Jah Orah, as well as Chicago’s Panamanian transplant the mighty Badman Zulu with a quick cameo by Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 on “Eazy“.
